Action Falls: Train the Trainer
This CPD course is an asynchronous online course is for allied health professionals and qualified nurses who take on the role of ‘Falls Lead’ to deliver the Action Falls training within care homes. It is designed to develop learners so that they competent applying, training, mentoring and enabling care home staff in adopting the Action Falls programme to reduce fall risks for care home residents, patients, clients and service users.
The course is structured into four modules that equate to approximately four and a half hours of training in total and a final assessment quiz. The materials are designed to develop the learners’ ability to:
successfully perform their role and responsibilities as an Action Falls Lead;
apply the different the elements of the Action Falls programme, in particular the Action Falls Checklist;
collaborate with care home managers, owners and staff in order to set up Action Falls training sessions;
deliver the Action Falls training to care home staff using pre-prepared materials;
work with and support care homes after they have delivered the Action Falls training;
further develop their expertise in falls prevention after completing the course.
Learners who have completed the course will have developed the following capabilities:
master the use of the Action Falls Checklist to identify resident-specific risk factors and recommended actions;
collaborate with care home staff, managers and Falls Champions to build a falls prevention culture within care homes, including data collection and setting up training;
deliver engaging one-hour in-person training sessions to care home staff on using the Action Falls Checklist and programme;
provide ongoing support, guidance and refresher training to care homes to sustain the implementation of the Action Falls programme.
